Has our Western mindset caused us to lose a blessing from the foundations of our faith as Paul taught? "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of ... the doctrine of baptisms, ..."    (Hebrews 6:1-2)

Parasha Re'eh (See/Behold!) teaches us about several facets of YHVH's character and how we might apprehend His blessings. These include: 1. Blessings & Curses, 2. Casting down "other gods",3. Warnings of false prophets,4. Warnings of seducing relations,5. The blessings in the tithe, and 6. Acceptable foods

In order to hear "what the Spirit is saying to the church" from this week's parasha, we must keep focused upon the analogy between the Promised Land and our land - the flesh wherein we dwell. Moses consistently repeated (in every chapter) exhortation for faithful obedience to God's ordinances and ways which produces both physical and spiritual "fruit" of potential blessings or discipline upon Israel of old and believers in Messiah Yeshua.

As we continue the study of Moses' last instructions to the new generation of Israel before they enter the promise land, we find, the repetition of several major themes for sanctified and blessed living. Additionally, the reader will note the inclusion of several well known promises/quotations for both Judah and Christian (Messianic) Israel. Although Moses outlines the way of blessing and life he predicts Israel's apostasy, exile and re-establishment. These warnings all reflect the echoed shadows of the judgment befalling spiritual Israel today. Let us hear by the Spirit what is being said to the church of today.
After only thirty eight years of Israel's wilderness wanderings, YHVH instructs Moses to reiterate many of the former foundational commandments (as well as establish some new ones) before a new generation of warriors who are about to go into the Promised Land. More than two thousand years have past since the revelation of Messiah, the "New Covenant," and the New Testament church. It should not be surprising that YHVH is bringing forth voices to reestablish the foundations of our walk and faith as we prepare to enter into the Promised Land of the Messianic Kingdom. Let us learn from the Israelite's first entrance into the covenant promises of YHVH.
